Long-running web properties DailyCandy, the deals-focused lifestyle site, and recap and forum favorite Television Without Pity, are going out of business according to owner NBCUniversal. More like Internet Without Pity. Recode reports:
The closing impacts 64 employees at the women-focused DailyCandy and three at TWoP. Apparently, many of those staffers — largely located in New York — might be offered jobs at other NBCU properties, but that is not a certainty.
The reason for the closing down was pretty basic: Despite creating laudable sites, there was still not enough traffic and, therefore, a difficulty monetizing the properties, especially in the wake of increased competition since the pair were first founded.
Good-byes are never easy. After 14 years of bringing you the best, we will close our doors on 4/4. Thanks for the memories. Xoxo

It’s always sad to see sites we like go out of business. Both were appointment viewing for many on the web for years, but apparently not many enough. Here’s hoping everyone at both land on their feet. Except the bad ones, who will probably get hired by Buzzfeed anyway.
