We’re over the whole minimalism thing—we get it, you’re cool and simple and avant-garde. Two designers who obviously agree: LRS and Luar. At both presentations this NYFW, the New York brands debuted heavily maximalist collections that coordinated through prints on prints on prints. At LRS, it was actual print—newspaper, to be exact. And at Luar, it was designer Raul Lopez’s signature mix of layers and fabrics—not to mention a bunch of synthetic hair. The conclusion? Simplicity is out and weird as fuck is back—though at Luar and LRS, I’m pretty sure it never left.
