Some collaborations make so much sense that once you’ve heard it you can’t believe it hasn’t always existed. On the new single “Come Alive” from Chromeo’s forthcoming White Women the Montreal dance heroes harness their sex-powered funk engine to the chillwave synth romanticism of Chaz Bradley Bundick, aka Toro y Moi. “Toro is a new school funk disciple, like us” the band explained in a release. “Ever since we heard his music we wanted to unleash his inner Jermaine Stewart.” It worked. The results sound like, well, Chromeo featuring Toro y Moi, just like it says on the can. Unsurprisingly, it’s well-suited for either dancing or romancing, preferably both at the same time.
