Brooklyn Born Haitian-American artist Moxiie has been catching shine lately on the strength of her powerfully-sung, stylish electro-pop tracks everywhere from Noisey, to Stereogum, and garnering comparisons to the likes of Santigold and Charli xcx. “Jilted” in particular, with its artistic video accompaniment, is a standout.
“I wrote “Jilted” about my father when I started to feel like I would need to accept that we may never have a real father-daughter relationship. It’s about the relentless kind of love and need to love that no one can escape,” she says of the track.
As the videos make clear, there’s also a strong visual component to her work. Moxiie sat for a Polaroid editorial for us.
