“The song is about that perfect time in your life when you believe in love blindly and completely,” Ben Grey of the Los Angeles band Dear Boy explains of the sprawling grandeur of their track “Hesitation Waltz.”
“When the possibility of loss or betrayal is unimaginable. The intent was to make a video that would live in that moment.”
“I’d never directed anything for our band before, so to be working with [director] Baley Wynn on it was a huge deal,” Grey went on. “She’s been collaborating with us since the very beginning and I’m really proud of the world we’ve built together.”
The video tracks a couple through the motions of their love affair.
“We were incredibly lucky to have Dash and Amber as the couple in the video. I feel privileged that they allowed us into their relationship for a day. Their intimacy and their ease with each other, even with a camera following them, was so genuine. At times, It felt like we were watching some French New Wave film.”
