Here is a statement on the evening from Scott Harrison, CEO & Founder of charity: water.
“Since the first charity: ball seven years ago, we have always aspired to offer a $1 million Waterwalk to our guests, and this year, because of the Caterpillar Foundation we we able to make that happen. They generously donated $1,000 for each guest to walk and 1,000 people stepped up, unlocking a gift of $1 million which will help the people of Malawi get clean and safe water to drink.
In total, through the generosity of more than 2,000 supporters, we raised over $4 million in one night, and we’ll be able to bring clean water to more than 60,000 people in Malawi.Only three weeks ago, we lost our original venue to host the gala, and moved the location to the Duggal Greenhouse in Brooklyn from our original venue in midtown Manhattan. I was blown away by the dedication of more than 2,000 people who came in from all over the world to support us.
We’re humbled and grateful to serve others, and to have been a part of such an incredible evening.”
