We’ve got another list of tunes, our ninth to be exact, cued up for poolside enjoyment or a sunset drive, or at least the pools and sunsets of our desktop daydreams. Per usual, the gateway is HERE, and a few words on each selection are below:

Young Moon – “The Crystal Text”

Trevor Montgomery’s voice never appears on the opener to his 2012 debut as Young Moon (it does later), and there’s something distinctly effective about that choice, letting the track’s warm guitar timbres do all the talking.

Antena – “Camino Del Sol (Todd Terje Remix)”

“Camino Del Sol”, a 1982 ‘electro-samba’ masterpiece by French-Belgian band Antena was not available on Spotify in its original form, but this slightly pepped-up remix will do just fine.

Taken By Trees – “Dreams”

Influenced by a visit to Hawaii, Victoria Bergsman’s latest single is a delicate shoreline beauty with hints of island dub.
Kwes – “Honey”

“Honey” is a genuinely sweet love song embedded within some wild electronic textures, and also a sign of good things to come from the British singer/producer.

Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark – “Souvenir”

The video for early ’80s MTV favorite “Souvenir” follows a red convertible through the countryside of England and that’s about it, which totally works.

Kisses – “Funny Heartbeat”

Amazing there are 30 years between this breezy synth-pop song and the last one.

Dumbo Gets Mad – “Marmelade Kids”

This tripp-ed out tapestry of sound from Italy matches its psychedelically suggestive title spot on.

Groundislava feat. Clive Tanaka – “TV Dream”

As if answering my prayers last time for more Clive Tanaka, “TV Dream” came along with another dose of half-remembered computer disco. Again with LA-based producer Groundislava, and again quite rad.

Roy Orbison – “I Drove All Night”

“…it is a really sublime pop song, dude, do not discount Roy Orbison,” said my friend Matt over Gchat last night. He’s right.
