Born and raised in New York City, producer/songwriter Stray Echo decided on his moniker after adopting a stray dog and wanting his stage name to symbolize an animal being freed from its cage. Boasting a colorful, kaleidoscope-like soundscape, Stray Echo’s been slowly working from home on his debut EP alongside producers Rich Cooper (Banks, Josef Salvat) and Chris Camilleri (MSMR).
The project’s first single, “Ground,” features soul singer LOLO of 2014’s “Hit and Run.” According to Stray Echo, the track’s percussion was provided by pots, pans, knives and forks that he scoured from his own Brooklyn kitchen. “This added a live feel to the sound that makes it rousing and gives it a moving energy,” he said.
