Chicago tastemaker Giselle Gatsby has been quietly perfecting a collection of hand-crafted lucite jewelry for months and now she’s ready to officially unveil it. From chokers to cuffs and rings to earrings, Gatsby’s debut selection is completely transparent. “I’m more into making sculptural art pieces than a line of whatever jewelry,” said Gatsby. “I make pieces that don’t just look beautiful on your body; they look beautiful alone on a table or even on pedestal, too.”
When it came to developing her clean, minimal aesthetic, Gatsby allowed her own jet-black uniform to help inspire the collection’s materials, colors and silhouettes. The simplicity of lucite allows for it to be worn with any outfit during any occasion, she said, comparing the jewelry to an “empty white gallery” that’s waiting to be adorned with an artist’s work.
