One goes to Sundance expecting to see earth-shattering, post-structuralist indie dramas, mumblecore masterpieces and feature-length reflections on these troubled times–but in the short films category? Not so much.
Until now. The Arm is Brie Larson‘s (of our star Winter talent line-up) directorial debut, featuring a touchingly existential plotline (can text friends be sex friends? Or even boyfriend and girlfriend?) and a Cera-esque leading man. Love in a yogurt shop? The perils of an Iphone-centric friendship? The brilliant addition of Allie Grant (aka the best part of Weeds)? We’re in love–and not just with Genevieve.
If you’re like us, you’ll be watching this on loop with a pint of Pinkberry for the next few days, marveling at how far physical human interaction has deteriorated.
