Brett Ratner has been awfully silent since his homophobic and misogynistic remarks cost him his job as the producer of this year’s Oscars. No longer! Ratner, who has long been considered the poster boy of Hollywood hacktivism, has just been announced as the director of a new GLAAD campaign. At the time of his firing, Ratner took a vow of repentance, and it looks like he’s following through. According to The Wrap, the series will feature Hollywood celebrities, athletes, musicians and politicians—so basically Ratner’s poker buddies—”coming out of the closet” as supporters of the LGBT community.
Ratner’s statement on the matter goes as follows: “Working together with GLAAD has been a very positive and enlightening experience for me, and I could not be more pleased to be developing this crucial campaign to help educate people that we all share the same humanity. I am excited to get to work on this program and hope that minds and hearts are opened by what we create,” which is probably similar to the speech he gave on the first day of shooting Tower Heist.
