Wow, this Boy George cover of “Video Games” is pretty surprising, because who knew that homeboy had morphed into a middle of the road Americana caricature? Stranger things have happened I suppose, like everything else related to Boy George’s life and career. As one astute YouTube commenter writes: “wow his voice doesn’t sound the same to me. I wouldn’t have known this was Boy George if the title didn’t tell me who was singing. It’s not a bad little cover, but sure doesn’t sound like the voice I remember.”
Agreed buddy. What’s the takeaway then?

“Still overall I like it, although not a fan of cover songs,especially when it’s within a YEAR of the original – maybe there is a new song out there somewhere he’s working on.”
Maybe not though. We have to consider that possibility. Anyway, the video here, directed by EGOT club member Mike Nichols (wait, is that true?), carries over all the important elements of the Lana Del Rey aesthetic: young romance, artful cinematography, and, most importantly, hot bros with neck tattoos.
