We just finished listening to Bill Murray’s excellent, revealing interview on The Howard Stern Show from last week, which means we’ve been freshly reminded of just how great and mercurial a personality Bill Murray is. That’s why we accept the following news with open arms. Variety is reporting that Murray will reteam with his Lost in Translation director Sofia Coppola for a televised Christmas special. Sorry, what’s that?
“It’s not going to be live,” say Murray, who’ll be singing classic carols into Scarlett Johansson’s ears in little more than whisper. “We’re going to do it like a little movie. It won’t have a format, but it’s going to have music. It will have texture. It will have threads through it that are writing. There will be prose.” As for Coppola, she has her own vision. ““Not sure when it will air, but my motivation is to hear him singing my song requests,” she told Variety.
