Beyoncé Makes a Statement on the VMAs Red Carpet

At last night’s 2016 Video Music Awards, Beyoncé brought the Black Lives Matter movement to the red carpet, with an entourage that included mothers of victims of police brutality.

Lezley McSpadden, Wanda Johnson, Gwen Carr and Sybrina Fulton—mothers of Mike Brown, Oscar Grant, Eric Garner, and Trayvon Martin—stood alongside Queen Bey and Blue Ivy as a part of Beyoncé’s continuos stand against police violence. This, however, is not the first time this group of women, known as the “Mothers of the Movement,” have taken part in Bey’s ongoing reminder of the Black lives we’ve lost in racially charged violence throughout the years.

Queen Bey continues to remind us to #SayTheirNames.
