Oh fashion, fashion, fashion, will you ever learn?
In the latest in what seems to be a never ending stream of embarrassingly tone-deaf runway moments, Australian label Misha Collection just sent an army of white models down its runway to the tune of Beyoncé’s “Formation.”
Bey’s instantly iconic anthem has been described as “black feminist magic,” and here we have a bunch of of skinny white girls, led by none other than “model of the year” Bella Hadid (who, to be fair, is half Palestinian, but still not black) crapping all over it.
When will designers learn??? It seems like we have at minimum one of these a season with no relief in sight. Diversity, or lack thereof, on the runway has been a topic of conversation for several seasons now, yet it feels as though designers are only making things worse with casting decisions so stupid it’s hard to believe they’re taking place.
Come on, people, you’re better than this.
