Backstage at Issey Miyake’s  SS ’16 Show was definitely something out of the ordinary. Models emerged onto the runway, faces splattered with bright colors to create a look that complemented the collection. To achieve this, makeup artist Alex Box carefully selected a color palette to give the collections its “Botanical Delights” aesthetic. Models had to lay down, while custom colors were blown onto their faces through a straw.

Box explained her inspiration behind this application as “an opening orchid, seen through humid air and dappled jungle sunlight.” Hair stylist James Pecis added textured to hair, giving it a wild swept away Cockatiel effect, while Issey Miyake Designer Yoshiyuki Miyamae explained he experimented with ingredients like spices, colors and shapes to create a lush vitality of tropical jungle.
