When we interviewed rising PHLEMUNS designer James Flemons last October, he was frustrated with being referred to as a “denim designer,” which is perhaps why his fall ’16 collection centered primarily on ’70s plaid knits with a slim, carefully edited denim presence.
The designer’s successful LAFW debut was met with an announcement that Solange’s new online store, Saint Heron, would begin carrying his work—a triumph for the young talent, who also told us that his dream customer was, in fact, the R&B “Losing You” crooner.
When welcomed into the Knowles camp, you’re destined for success, so it’s safe to say 2016 is the year of PHLEMUNS: an independent brand that’s helping establish LA as a fashion capital.
