The AREA FW ’17 collection explored the fine line between love and obsession. With elegant furs, embossed leather, dreamy silks and shirts emblazoned with “J’adore DRAMA,” Beckett Fogg and Piotreck Pansczczyk presented a romantic range of conceptualized glamour. Feminine shapes in the brand’s signature luxe fabrics offered a refined elegance, while rhinestone embellishments and oversized hoops kept the collection feeling young and cool.
“This season, we really tried to bring the AREA girl into the real world,” said the designers.
Focused on infatuation and the way it manifests, Fogg and Pansczczyk built a collection that analyzed obsession both literally and metaphorically.
“After we researched what the AREA girl would be obsessed with, we started thinking about self obsession and translating that into crystal bodyscapes that mimic the shadows of the body,” they explained. “[…] Breast shapes were cut in silk and embellished with silk covered buttons. Skin was a big focus—our color story represented nude shades ranging from fair to dark.”
The overall theme beyond the designer’s inspiration was the way each piece embodied the AREA aesthetic. As the brand continues to carve out its place in the industry, Fogg and Pansczczyk have made one thing absolutely clear—AREA is all about indulgence, sensuality and feminine power.
“For us it’s all about the identity and attitude,” said the designers. “We really hope that when someone sees an AREA piece, they recognize it immediately.”
