After teasing a snippet of the track at Hood By Air’s Pitti Uomo presentation last January, Venezuelan producer Arca has released the full studio version of “EN” off his sophomore album Mutant, due out Nov. 20. The project is “about sensuality and impulsiveness as escape routes out of rigidity,” he said in a statement. “Softness as a weapon when the mind attacks itself.”
In collaboration with longtime creative partner Jesse Kanda, the artwork for Arca’s forthcoming LP looks one-part insect, one-part alien and one-part satan—a cherry red, mutated monster with murderous horns that’s either unearthed from six feet under or pulled out of a dark, twisted nightmare.
In the lo-fi music video for “EN,” Arca slowly squirms in a pair of towering, pearly rubber boots, all beneath a stunning yellow haze. This treatment is a cohesive follow-up to last month’s “Soichiro,” which similarly played with a murky, monotone aesthetic. Watch, below:
