Antoine Diligent’s ‘Reasons’ Is a Slice of Dream-Pop Bliss

“As life goes on it becomes more difficult to ignore the fact that refinement is persistently in order,” Antoine Diligent says, by way of introducing his new single “Reasons.”

“In the case of ‘Reasons,’ it’s the recognition that nurturing any degree of self importance is ultimately useless and unattractive. Kind of like the song itself!”

You might agree with the overarching point, while quibbling with the assessment of the song. It’s a finely-honed piece of indie dream-pop, that creates an sense of swooning through the haze. “As Oscar Wilde said, ‘The only excuse for making a useless thing is that one admires it intensely,” Diligent adds. “‘All art is quite useless.'”

“Reasons” comes from his LP Futurisms. Fine more here.
