AlunaGeorge Show Us “Just a Touch”

’90s R&B is a genre that deserves more than a little obeisance for the marks it left on the childhoods of many artists who are just now coming to the fore, and listening to London duo AlunaGeorge it sounds like they’re paying their respects. The group’s debut EP, You Know You Like It, was physically released  on Tuesday on Tri Angle Records.  On top of that, the band offered up their visual for track “Just a Touch” yesterday. Together the song and the clip make it clear why the pop group is on the same label as murkier electronic acts like Balam Acab, How to Dress Well, and Evian Christ; directed by Laurence Matthew Blake and Matilda Finn, the slick black and white visual echoes AlunaGeorge’s left of center of R&B, which doesn’t really lie too far away from the warped pop that Tri Angle has delivered in the past. Let’s just hope that when word comes back on early-aughts nu metal that they’re as good as this.
