Air Traffic Controller’s ‘On the Wire’ Video Is an Uplifting ‘Thelma & Louise’-Inspired Road Trip

“‘On The Wire’ is a song that evokes excitement, but also a looming instability,” says Olivia Saperstein. Along with Max Lapointe, she directed the video for the Boston indie-pop band Air Traffic Controller, a sort of Thelma & Louise-inspired, uplifting road trip tale.

“The video is about two women who find strength in each other amid unfavorable circumstances. It’s about finding the courage to take life and freedom into their own hands, even if they don’t know what tomorrow brings.”

That sense of freedom is echoed in the song’s slowly building grandeur.

The song, from the recent Black Box, has already proven a huge success for the band, garnering over 1 million plays on Spotify since its release in March.

Air Traffic Controller will kick off a tour beginning this week. Find dates here.
