We knew the day would come once Snooki started having babies, Situation’s abs started fading, and Pauly D found himself ensconced in the corporate DJ scene. But did we ever imagine it would come so soon? MTV just announced that Jersey Shore will end after its sixth season, which premieres on October 4. Starting next week, they’ll gear up to the series finale by beginning a string of reflective programming such as Gym, Tan, Look Back. (No, really — that’s on September 6.) After that, we’ll be forced to entertain ourselves by watching CNN or something, I don’t know. I think I’m mostly gobsmacked that they’ve run through six seasons in less than three years, a turnaround time that puts every other show out there to shame. Like, can you really believe that Snooki and the Situation have only been cultural linchpins for half of the Obama Administration? Time is some goofy shit.
