We live in the age of never-ending photo documentation, which menswear duo Ada + Nik has taken a step further by designing the first biker jacket with a built-in Narrative Clip camera.
When turned on, the 8 megapixel camera automatically takes two photos per minute, storing and sorting the imagery in your smartphone with the accompanying Apple or Android app. The lightweight 20 gram attachment is programed to do this nonstop until it reaches its 8000 photo capacity or powers down after its two-day battery life. Creepy? Yes. Brilliant? Absolutely.
Designers Ada Zandition and Nik Thakkar created this jacket in collaboration with Will.i.am’s Ekocycle Project, crafted using only by-product calf leather and recycled plastic bottles. A perfect marriage of modern style and effective substance, the piece features a slim herringbone body, leather lapels and smart, sleek hardware.
Politically, we see this jacket as a way to help keep injustices in check, whether that be with capturing police behavior or criminal activity; socially, we see this as powerful fuel to feed our media-driven, self-obsessed culture; artistically, we see this as a medium to explore autobiographical photography in an exciting, currently untouched way; stylistically, we see this as a way to look really fucking good—sold.
