Much less conspicuous than Missoni’s trademark technicolors is sinewy heiress Jennifer Missoni, who says she has no interest in working for the brand founded by her grandparents.
“It was never something I was passionate about,” she tells Daily Front Row. “Acting has always been what I’ve wanted to do. I loved performing and connecting with myself in that other place.”
“I find that in general people here aren’t that familiar with it,” she reveals of her surname’s lack of cache. “A lot of people buying [Missoni for Target] were buying it because they knew they knew it was ‘some European designer.’ They didn’t even know what Missoni was.” The collection’s blockbuster success in the U.S. (which as you may recall, practically crashed the Internet) also leaves her confounded. “It’s really funny,” she muses. “It’s a little weird for me and my brother seeing one in five people wearing Missoni rain boots or a sweater.”
In fact, the budding star, who recently portrayed a W magazine minion on Gossip Girl, doesn’t see herself as a fashion plate. “I live in my workout clothes,” she declares. “I wear Lulu[Lemon] every single day of my life. That’s totally my style.”
