Alice Glass has announced that she’s leaving Crystal Castles. The iconoclastic frontwoman for the Canadian noise-synth duo broke the news in a Facebook post:
I am leaving Crystal Castles.
My art and my self-expression in any form has always been an attempt towards sincerity, honesty, and empathy for others.
For a multitude of reasons both professional and personal I no longer feel that this is possible within CC.
Although this is the end of the band, I hope my fans will embrace me as a solo artist in the same way they have embraced Crystal Castles.
Sincerity has long been a focal point for Glass, who we interviewed a while back. “I live for sincere moments,” she said. “Witnessing the passionate eyes of hate and locking with them makes up for all the phony weather talk. Life without passion is meaningless. I’d rather have confrontation over comfort. I’ll be comfortable when I’m dead.”
Crystal Castles were, at times, very, very good.
