While no women showed up for Trump’s “Women for Trump” event yesterday (gee, I wonder why), on Sunday they showed up in droves to protest the hateful rhetoric spewed by Trump and the Republican Party at the RNC in Cleveland. And, to make matters more awesome, they showed up naked.
Orchestrated by artist Spencer Tunick, who’s known for large-scale nude photo shoots such as this, the peaceful protest welcomed women of all ages, races, shapes, sizes and political persuasions (yes, some Republicans attended as well). Entitled “Everything She Says Means Everything,” Tunick has been planning the piece since May, when he put out an open call for women who wanted to give a powerful, wordless “fuck you” to the RNC. Turns out many did; over 1,800 signed up.
During the protest, the women held large, round mirrors above their heads, which, as Tunick said in a statement, “communicate that we are a reflection of ourselves, each other, and of the world that surrounds us. The women become the future and the future becomes the woman.”
Damn straight we’re the future (literally, y’all need us to, you know, keep the species going. Sorry to burst your bubble, Trump). But seriously, big ups to these fearless women. Our hearts explode with love for you.
